Fuel economy is a huge deciding factor for me when I consider a car. I also have to consider the fact that I am a larger than average man who needs a bit more space than my current subcompact. That is why I keep my eye on the constant evolution of the compact.

The Forte nameplate has been a huge global success with 445,000 units sold worldwide in 2011. The Forte is related to the Hyundai Elantra which is another car that is on my short list of compact cars worth buying.

"Longer, lower and wider" Kia Motors on the K3, Forte/Cerato

Keeping with the current naming scheme of their newest luxury sedan the K9 this model will be named the K3 in its homeland of South Korea. In other markets the drawing, seen above, gives the design direct of the Forte/Cerato in the world market.

There is no information yet on what powertrain will find its way into the new Forte. Compared to its cousin the Elantra the Forte has been more performance oriented. This could mean turbo charged engines and a sportier suspension than its Hyundai stablemates.

Expect the Kia Forte to hit the market in the first quarter of 2013.
